These beautiful 3-way DIY speakers featuring TD12M’s and SEOS12’s with DNA-360 compression drivers are finished in a crotch mahogany veneer with automotive 2k metallic flake paint on the front baffles. Here is what Doug had to say about them:
“When I designed my media room, I wanted from my audio system a full range of powerful response – from thunderous, tactile bass, smooth mids, and delicate highs at every seat in the room that measures ruler flat at all listening levels. This room is the main entertaining area in our home where we spend time as a family watching movies and listening to music, and entertaining friends. The goal was to keep as much of the A/V equipment out of sight to avoid having the “speaker store” look. I listened to a pair of speakers that blew me away at a fellow audiophile’s home designed by Bill Waslo using the AE TD12M and SEOS12 waveguide and Denovo DNA-360 compression driver. These speakers had everything I was looking for so I ordered all the xo parts, drivers, and other essentials.”
“The cabinets are built with MDF and covered with crotch mahogany veneer on the sides and top. The front is an automotive 2k metal flake base coat, and the entire cabinet is finished with 9 coats of 2k clear. The TD12M have a 1 cubic foot net cabinet tuned to 60hz with a separate sealed compartment for the LF driver of abound 3.3 cubes. The LF Diver is a Creative Sound Solutions SDX-15.”
“Power to the mids and highs are from the Onkyo 818 AVR at 135w each channel and no eq. Each SDX-15 is powered by one channel of a Behringer EP4000 and eq’ed with a miniDSP. The duty of the SDX-15 is to help with low listening level smoothing to the systems main subs, which are two Gjallarhorn tapped horns mounted in the ceiling and a dual opposed sealed cabinet with two Stereo Integrity hs24. All of the ULF drivers are powered with a channel each from one of two of LG fp14000 clone amps. EQ and delay with miniDSP.”
“Audio and video playback with JRiver, automation by Insteon, control with iRule on iPhone 6 and iPads, Volt 8 surrounds and front heights”
“I’m very happy with how the system turned out and the mains steal the show first by the richness of the veneer on the cabinets, then with the detailed sound to ear-splitting levels without even a hint of compression.”
