    Hi all,
what other similar (12″) drivers would be suitable for Open Baffle Dipole
with either cloth treated or rubber surround?
The two 12″ drivers will be driven in parallel (4 Ohms)
with a solid state plate 250 watts amplifier.

Hi Guy13, sent you a PM.

If you are looking for a few examples, there are some recently on our facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/aespeakers One for 2x Dipole10 was just posted. If you are looking for other examples, the Kyron Audio Kronos was recently given best speaker over $20,000 by Sound+Image. This uses 2x Dipole12 per channel.

The Lotus Group Granada had similar best in show awards a few years before.

That should give you some inspiration for the future. 🙂

    Hi stryke,
thanks for all the links, I had a look and all of them are very interesting.
I will keep those in my favorites for my next up-grade.
    Thanks again.

Hi Guy 13, where do I know you from? your SN is very familiar.

The Acoustinator 12″ is really designed as a driver for instruments and not subwoofer use. The driver has very little Xmax, only 3.9mm so it cannot move a lot of air to get loud cleanly. While you may enjoy this subwoofer, there are far better options. The IB12 is an option although it is not the best option for open baffle use. The Dipole series are designed specifically for open baffle use. The underhung motor gives much more linearity to the Bl curve within Xmax limits of the driver. It is a reason the Dipole woofers are used for the low end in speakers like the Kyron Audio Kronos that are getting such great reviews.

    Hi John,
do you remember where you know me from?
May I ask where you live?
In what kind of field of work you are?
That might help to see if we know each other from somewhere else.

    Hi John,
I only post on three forums: here, Decware and Audio Circle, at AC I have more than 4,500 posts.
(I am a French Canadian from Montreal, Quebec, but I’ve been living in Vietnam for the past 20 years.
I know that the AE Dipole 12 are far better than my Eminence Acoustinator,
but at the time of purchase that’s only what I could afford, I paid 25 USD each,
can’t really beat that and even if they have their limitations, for now,
I am happy with them, I don’t listen at discotheque level.
    Thanks for your comments.

Largest subwoofer cabinet was done for AV15 with dual PR18s, and the other one was dual AV15s with quad PR18s IIRC.

Now since John doesn’t sell AV line currently, those cabinets are now custom made and tuned to go with TD15 drivers usually.

You need to contact John to know the prices, depending on what you want and what custom size you want. There’s no price list currently. John will try to make a standard list eventually.

    Hi Simon5.
    How can I reach John?
    Any e-mail address?
    Thanks.

    Hi.
Where on your website can I find the prices for all your subwoofer cabinets ?
Which drivers (And passive radiator) would you recommend for your largest
    sub woofer cabinet ?
(Two drivers and four side firing passive radiators.)
    Thanks.

Not currently available, you can take SBP15 instead, better drivers but more expensive.

    Hi Simon 5
    Thanks.
Where on the site can I find information on the SBP15 and how much are they ?
How about the Dipole 15 ?
    Guy 13

    Hi (Again) Simon 5.
After some searching I found the answers I was looking for, however,
I have a few more questions:
If the price for a single SBP-15 is 289 USD, how much for four (04) units?
I want to use the SBP-15 in a Open Baffle configuration, is that O.K. ?
Later on this year, I will be manufacturing my own desing units for sale
to audiophiles under the name of Audio 13.
Just wanted to let you know.

    Hi all AE members.
I have been doing some tests and found out that I like the Open Baffle H frame configuration.
I had in mind two (02) IB-15 per channel but I saw that it was discountinued,
which model would be a direct replacement ?
    I might also be considering a 12″ version ? (Dipole 12)
Waiting for your answers and recommendations.
    Have a nice day.
